Discover The New Generation of Honda Electric Vehicles

For more than 55 years, the Japanese manufacturer has been constantly thinking about giving the best for future generations. "Blue skies for our children" is the vision that drives Honda to reduce CO2 emissions from both its vehicles and facilities.

When we look more closely at Honda's sustainability policy, we are struck by its efforts in recycling, accountability and influence on the environment. Since 2004, Honda vehicles have been designed to be 90% recyclable. This idea is also in line with the introduction of hybrid and electric vehicles to consumers.

Recycling plays an important role in Honda plants and buildings around the world. Honda is also taking responsibility for public health and the environment. By renovating its plant in Alliston, Ontario, the manufacturer was able to reduce 44% of its greenhouse gas emissions. Honda Canada's head office in Markham, Ontario is fully ISO and LEED certified. The building has lighting that consumes 33% less energy and uses up to 89% less water than a comparable building of the same size. The company has managed to avoid sending 99 percent of its waste to landfill by 2017.

Honda Ile-Perrot west of Montreal near Beauharnois and Valleyfield is also concerned about the environment and is focusing here on the new generation of electric vehicles.

Honda EVs, Solid Stuff on Our Doorstep!

That's it, it's done! Honda and General Motors are joining forces to develop new electric vehicles. They announced at a press conference that they have agreed to jointly develop two all-new electric vehicles (EVs) for Honda, based on GM's global electric vehicle platform and powered by exclusive Ultium batteries. The exterior lines and interior will be exclusively designed by Honda. The platform will be developed to support the unique driving characteristics of Honda vehicles across the country. This strategic alliance will simply bring together the talents of these two automakers.

The production of these Honda electric vehicles will draw on the development expertise of both companies and the vehicles will be manufactured at GM plants in North America. Sales are expected to begin in the 2024 model year in Honda's U.S. and Canadian markets. This announcement coincides with the Japanese automaker's ongoing environmental efforts and its desire to drastically reduce GHGs.

Honda and General Motors have an ongoing relationship focused on electrification. This includes work on fuel cells and the Cruise Origin, a shared, electric, self-drive vehicle that was unveiled in San Francisco earlier this year. Honda has also joined GM's efforts to develop battery modules in 2018 and this has been a very successful venture for both companies.

Even more exciting, as part of the agreement to jointly develop electric vehicles, Honda will integrate GM's OnStar safety services into both of its electric vehicles, making them a perfect fit for HondaLink. In addition, Honda plans to make GM's advanced hands-free driving assistance technology available. This is an effective strategic alliance proving that combining talents can produce spectacular results.
